What a Maple Leaf actually costs

Against that spot, a Maple Leaf trades at roughly $4,380 to $4,600, a premium of about 2 to 4% for a coin in mint condition with its capsule intact.

The premium is the real negotiation. Two dealers quoting the same spot price can differ by more than $100 on a single coin, purely on premium. Ask for the premium as a percentage over spot, not just a final number, and compare it against what the same dealer charges on a 1oz gold bar, the cleanest same-day benchmark we have.
